Hoya is a genus of 200–300 species of tropical plants in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. Most are native to several countries of Asia such as Philippines, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Polynesia, New Guinea, and vast variety of species could also be found in Australia.
Many hoyas prefer bright indirect light, temperatures ranging from 60F to 80F and humiditiy above 50%. They grow in a wide range of environmental conditions with some being cool weather growing species and many being warm weather species. On top of unique foliage, hoyas produce beautiful flowers that almost have a wax like appearance. Thus the common name Wax Plant.
